Privacy policy
Last updated: November 5, 2026
Miami Temple (“the church”) uses this app to care for its members and plan its ministry. This policy explains what information the app keeps, why, who can see it, and the choices you have. It covers the app at miamitemple.sendward.app, its public pages (sign-up, visitor card, event sign-ups, feedback surveys and games) and the emails and text messages the church sends through it.
Information the app keeps
- Membership records: name, member number, household and home address, phone, email, preferred language, whether a person is under 18, church roles and ministries, and membership events such as baptisms, transfers and whether a member is active.
- What you add yourself: changes you make in My Account, and your directory photo and what you choose to show in the members-only directory.
- Care and follow-up: notes leaders write after calls and visits, prayer requests and care needs shared with the church.
- Public forms: sign-up details, visitor cards, event registrations and project feedback (ratings and comments).
- Children's games: a first name and a chosen animal, and the answers given. Game rooms are deleted after 6 hours.
- Sign-in: your email address or phone number and when you last signed in. The app uses cookies only to keep you signed in and remember your language. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
- Messages: emails and text messages the church sends through the app, with their delivery status (sent, delivered, opened, bounced) and replies.
How the church uses it
- Pastoral care: so elders, deacons and pastors can stay in touch with each family and follow up when there is a need.
- Organizing the church by location: parishes, small groups and meeting times based on where members live and driving distances.
- Keeping the membership records up to date, as every Seventh-day Adventist church does.
- Planning ministries, projects and events, and inviting people to them.
- Sending sign-in links and codes, invitations, contact checks and reminders.
The church does not sell your information and does not use it for advertising.
Who can see it
- Each leader sees only what their role needs: an elder sees the parish they lead; deacons and care callers see the members of the parishes they serve (callers see names and phone numbers, not addresses); department leaders see their ministry; the church clerk and office see the membership records; the pastors and the administrator see everything.
- Signed-in members see the members-only directory, where each adult chooses what to show. Home addresses are never shown there. Children appear only by first name inside their parents' household.
- Public pages never show member details.
Services that help run the app
The church uses these providers. Each one receives only what it needs to do its job for the church:
- Supabase: the database, sign-in and private file storage.
- Vercel: hosting of the app.
- Resend: sending the church's emails.
- Twilio: sending text messages and placing calls, when the church turns texting on.
- Mapbox and the U.S. Census Bureau geocoder: placing home addresses on the map and estimating driving times.
- Google Places: finding public places such as schools and parks near the church. No member information is sent.
- Cloudflare Turnstile: protecting the public forms from spam.
- OpenAI and Anthropic: writing help for sermons, Bible study guides, project reports and game questions, and the leaders' assistant, which can look up members to answer a signed-in leader's question. Under these providers' business terms, data sent this way is not used to train their models.
- fal and Kling: creating pictures and videos for sermons. They receive only descriptions of Bible scenes, never member details.
- YouTube: hosting the sermon videos the church publishes.
Text messages
If you agree to receive text messages, the church may text you about care follow-up, sign-in codes, checking your contact details and church activities you are part of. Reply STOP at any time to stop, or HELP for help.
Mobile phone numbers and text-message consent are never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
Children
Children do not create accounts. Their details are given by their parents or the church office. In the app, members under 18 appear only by first name in the directory, are never sent invitations or text messages by the app, and play the children's games with a first name only, without signing in. Until a household's ages are checked, members without their own email are protected the same way.
How long information is kept
Membership records are kept as church records, also after a member moves or becomes inactive. Sign-in invitations, message delivery records and sign-up forms are kept while they are useful for the office. Children's game rooms are deleted after 6 hours. You can ask the church to delete information that it does not need to keep.
Security
The app uses encrypted connections, gives each person only the access their role needs, keeps photos in private storage shown through short-lived links, and lets people sign in with one-time links and codes, so no one needs a shared password. No system is perfectly secure; if something goes wrong, the church will inform the people affected.
Your choices
- See and correct your phone, email and home address in My Account.
- Choose what the directory shows about you, change your photo, or hide yourself from the directory.
- Ask the church office to correct or delete your information.
- Stop text messages by replying STOP. Stop emails by replying to one and asking the office.
